Ten days ago, my husband and I worked in the yard, trimming, burning leaves and debris, and mowing the grass. I took this picture of him in action.
This past Tuesday evening, he fell in the kitchen. I found him on the floor unconscious, with some serious injuries to his head. He was taken to the area’s Level 1 Trauma Center, and they performed a craniotomy to relieve bleeding & swelling on his brain. He is still in ICU, making minimal progress.
They can’t give me a prognosis, but it looks like any recovery is going to be a long, slow process.
Due to Covid-19 regulations, I can’t be with him at the hospital. This is tremendously frustrating for me, and I’m not sure how much comprehension he has to understand this. I was able to speak to him this morning, as the nurse held a phone to his ear. She said he smiled.
No matter what, I know God’s in control, and I trust Him in all this.
If you’re a praying person, we certainly would appreciate your prayers.
Shalom, Dottie
“Father, I knew something was amiss, but didn’t really know what. You knew my prayers then, and I know You hear my prayers now for the Rogers family. Lord God, please be with him in his silence, in his healing, and in his recovery. Guide the doctors and other caregivers as they employ the gifts You’ve bestowed upon them in caring for my friend. Lord, I pray a special blessing of peace, patience, and love upon my sweet friend Ms. Dottie. Lord, she is Your faithful servant and she needs You to draw close to her this day. Father, You always honor your promises, so I hold you to your promise of Deuteronomy 31:6. I pray Your protection, guidance, grace, and mercy on this sweet family. In Jesus’ precious name; Amen”

To J. D. Wininger, thank you for so beautifully expressing what many friends are praying. To Dottie, prayers continue for both you and Ken, as well as for his medical team — prayers that God will meet every need and that He will surround both of you with His strength, comfort, and healing.

Thank you so much Sandy. The Lord hears and sees the needs. I’m awed by the outpouring.
