I get a little bored with annuals this time of year, eventhough we have several more months until we can welcome fall to the Gulf Coast. Yes, annuals are dependable color and fillers. Yes, I get my money’s worth since our summer season is so long.

And yes, I’m neglecting the garden to avoid the mosquitoes, heat, and humidity.

But when I stop to think about it, there’s still beauty out there. It’s just a lot more subtle than the riot of spring or the calming bronzes of autumn. I planned for this time.

Mid-summer’s charm is in its textures and shades of green. You just have to walk more slowly and observe the varieties around you.

I used a quote from Ecclesiastes last week, but I’m using the same verse again today from the English Standard Version.
Ecc. 3:11 He has made everything beautiful in its time.
Truly such diversity comes from the infinite imagination of a Creator who designed this world for our pleasure as well as His own.
Shalom, Dottie
