Dental Floss for the Soul

I’m thankful for social media. I’m thankful that I finally gave in and joined the party. I’ve met so many nice, interesting, faith-filled, smart, funny people – everyone doesn’t necessarily have all five qualities.

I’m doing the #DailyGratitude challenge again this month on Twitter. It’s a great spiritual discipline to make the first post of the day be something I’m thankful for. When I did this in August, I found that 31 days of a grateful heart can chip away some of the crusty cynicism that I tend to let build up. It’s like dental floss for your soul.

“giving thanks always and for everything to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ,” – Ephesians 5:20

It’s not hard to come up with something different every day that I appreciate. The Father has blessed my life in so many ways. It’s certainly not that we have a lot of money, or are without difficulties, or have no needs. That’s life too. It’s just that He opens my eyes to see the gifts that He has given. He is my Source.

“Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.” -James 1:17

And knowing Him – having a relationship with Him is gift enough.

Shalom, Dottie

  1. God’s blessings Ms. Dottie. What an important reminder, we must also remember to floss our souls each day. Being grateful each day is certainly a great way to do that. When I am; and I can’t honestly say I am every moment of every day, I find that things like selfishness, prideful, pettiness, and so many other worldly traits are far less prominent in my life. What a wonderful reminder to start our day in the right frame of spirit and mind ma’am.
